Trehan Daciano, known as the Prince of Shadows, has spent his life serving his people—striking in the night, quietly executing any threat to their realm. The coldly disciplined swordsman has never desired anything for himself - until he beholds Bettina, the sheltered ward of two of the Lore’s most fearsome villains.

Desperate to earn her guardians’ approval after a life-shattering mistake, young Bettina has no choice but to marry whichever suitor prevails—even though she’s lost her heart to another. Yet one lethal competitor, a mysterious cloaked swordsman, invades her dreams, tempting her with forbidden pleasure.

Even if Trehan can survive the punishing contests to claim her as his wife, the true battle for Bettina’s heart is yet to come. And unleashing a millennium’s worth of savage need will either frighten his Bride away - or stoke Bettina’s own desires to a fever pitch....

Read It, Track It is a way for me to track books for my reading challenges and they will be super short.

I skipped over Shadow’s Claim to catch up on the IAD series since it was labeled as a “spin-off”. It really should be read/listened to in order with the IAD series. The events happen parallel to the time line of Lothaire. Trehan Daciano is Lothaire’s cousin and we get to see a little of Lothaire and his bride and it was fun to see the couple again.

There is also mention of others from the IAD series, like the main couple in Dark Skye (IAD #14). And the cray cray dark-haired valkyrie, know as the ever knowing.

The team of Cole and Petkoff never fails to bring me out of a PNR listening slump. The writing and performance of Shadow’s Claim was a pure enjoy. I loved visiting this world and old characters again. Plus the addition with new characters was just so fun. I hope to see more of the Dacians.

It All Started Here! The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole

It All Started Here! The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole

This is the prequel to the series, a short story involving Myst and Nikolai Wroth. Myst is known throughout the world as the most beautiful Valkyrie, part chillingly fierce warrior, part beguiling seductress who can “make you want her even as she’s killing you.” She has devoted her life to protecting an ancient, powerful jewel and to fighting the vampires, and she now sees a way to torment one—for with Wroth’s heartbeat comes consuming sexual desire that can only be slaked by her. I found it to be an interesting story and premise for the series but it went on sexual overload near the end. As I’ve already read the second book in the series, I highly recommend reading this first as you have a […]

Holy Hot Immortal! Dark Skye by Kresley Cole

Holy Hot Immortal! Dark Skye by Kresley Cole

It’s no secret that I’m a HUGE Kresley Cole fan so you might be confused when I say that DARK SKYE is the first book I’ve read by Cole.  I’ve listened to all the Immortals After Dark books (and Cole’s other books) on audio. She has great narrators. But when I got a review request to read DARK SKYE I jumped on it. I wanted to see if I enjoyed Cole’s Immortals as much if I read them. And I did!! Of course I missed Robert Petkoff’s narration and I found myself wondering how he would voice Thornos and I plan on listening to the audio as well. But I can now say I love Cole’s writing no matter if I’m reading or listening to […]

Uilleam (Will) is a MacRieve and a Lykae (werewolf) so of course he’s going to be sexy and alpha. But MacRieve is tormented over his past, a past that is 900 hundreds old. He should be over it by now right? WRONG! He last half his family in one night all those years ago and blames himself to this day for their deaths. MacRieve has a twin brother Munro and he is what’s been keeping Will somewhat sane all these centuries but Will is at the end of his rope and wants to give up. Until he finally meets his mate, Chloe. Chloe is a spit fire soccer player and human. But worst she’s the daughter of the commander, the heartless bastard that’s been torturing people of […]

My Favorite So Far! Lothaire by Kresley Cole

My Favorite So Far! Lothaire by Kresley Cole

Ah, Lothaire the Enemy of Old, the douche bag of the Lore or just misunderstood? Lothaire is my favorite book in the IAD series so far. Why? 45% Kresley Cole’s writing and 55% Robert Petkoff’s narration. Really! Petkoff does an amazing job with the mountain billy accent of Ellie’s family that I was LMAO. To go from a Russian accent to a “whole my beer watch this” accent shows just how talented Robert Petkoff is. Cole couldn’t have given Lothaire a better bride. She took the boogey man of the Lore and gave him a backwoods mountain gal. LOL Sigh, Lothaire in a wife beater. Too much fun. Lothaire has been around for a few books making everyone’s life miserable. And he treats Ellie like […]

I love how Cole weaves the plot lines of all the characters in her Immortals After Dark series. Really you need an org chart to keep up with how the stories intersect. It’s almost like Cole is telling one story from different POVs. Most of the plots of the books are happening parallel to each other and I love that you get to learn some details about past characters and teases on up coming characters. Before I get into Aidan and Regin let me give a shout out to Nix! She is not the best character of the series?! She’s so crazy and she puts all the other characters through hell. LOL And now Nix has a pet bat. Well why not. She is bat […]

10 books into the Immortals After Dark series and the team of Cole and Petkoff is still knocking it out of the park! The Writing: Kresley Cole is paranormal romance at its finest. I don’t how she does it but she kinds the laughs and sexy times coming with each installment in the IAD series. She writes extremely entertaining characters and paints a vivid world surrounding her supes. The Narration Performance: I can’t call Robert Petkoff a narrator no longer, he doesn’t read a book he PERFORMS them. The man can do no wrong! He is the cherry on top of Cole’s writing. Seriously, if you think of audio books as experiencing the biggest epic/action movie in 3D then you not only get an outstanding […]

Audio Review: Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Kresley Cole

I love how Cole writes this series. The first few books progress in time and then the books start to go back in time where the plot is running parallel to the earlier books so we see what everyone else is doing as the same time as previous couples. Cole gives us clues in books to future couples and plot lines and now those little dots to Lucia and Garreth that she gave us at the end of A Hunger Like No Other are finally connected in Pleasure of a Dark Prince. Pleasure of a Dark Prince the story happens around the middle of A Hunger Like No Other, which is the 1st full length novel in the series. Garreth MacRieve is the lycan bother to the […]
