Welcome to Harborsmouth, where monsters walk the streets
unseen by humans…except those with second sight, like Ivy Granger.
Some things are best left unseen...
Ivy Granger's second sight is finally giving her life purpose. Ivy and her best friend Jinx may not be raking in the dough, but their psychic detective agency pays the bills—most of the time. Their only worry is the boredom of a slow day and the occasional crazy client—until a demon walks through their door.
Demons are never a good sign...
A demon attorney representing the water fae? Stranger things have happened. And things are about to get very, very strange as a bloodthirsty nightmare hunts the city of Harborsmouth.
There's blood in the water...
Kelpies have a reputation for eating humans. Unfortunately, Kelpies are the clients. When an Unseelie faerie this evil stalks the waterways of your city, you have to make hard choices.
The lesser of two evils..

I’d been trying to read this freebie for awhile and my instincts were correct; Shadow Sight is a worthwhile read. I think the strategy of lesser known or indie or new authors to give their first in the series away or at a lower price is brilliant. They are unlikely to be found in the library, unfortunately. Getting a copy into the hands of a reader like myself, who will not only appreciate it, and work to acquire more books in the series, but is also likely to spread the word should be helpful.
A story with a psychic detective sounded good. My favorite things include mind magic, or any kind of magic and mysteries. This is jam packed with fae, which can go either way. There are also witches (yay magic!) and vampires. The fae are many and diverse. Detectives are bound to have mysteries to solve, right?
There are mysteries which lead to other mysteries and problems. The cases require information and research which means relying on friends for information and research and developing new sources. This is all good stuff or at least interesting reading.
Ivy has the promise of what all great heroines have. She is full of heart, hardworking and rather selfless. She is also at the brink of learning more about herself and growing into her life. Ivy is attracting a cadre of allies and friends from many types. This is necessary for all great heroines. For battles will come; and she will need them to rally around her.
I look forward to finding and reading on in the Ivy Granger series. As I suspected, there is nothing available at my libraries. Sadly, after a check on interlibrary loan, the books are only available as ebooks at about six libraries nationwide (which can’t be sent as inter-library loans). There are four main books and two novellas listed on Goodreads. The books and novellas are available on Amazon ranging from $.99 – $3.99.
