Hailey Genest has seen most of her friends marry and have babies, and she's happy for them, but it was a lot easier before she hit forty. She's spent her entire life in Whitford, Maine, and if she hasn't found her Prince Charming by now, she has to accept she's probably not going to. When a new friend suggests they go on an adventure and embrace being single, Hailey agrees.

Surviving in the woods is game warden Matt Barnett's idea of a relaxing vacation. But when he meets two women in need of help, he leads them back to safety - a task that proves more fun than expected, thanks to a certain hot blonde. He can't resist pushing her buttons, even though she's made it clear that the rugged, outdoorsy type just isn't for her.

Hailey is glad to see the back of her tempting-tour-guide-slash-pain-in-the-ass. When he shows up in her life again, she's determined to avoid him, no matter how good he looks in his uniform. But that's easier said than done in Whitford, especially when he's renting the house right next door...

Read It, Track It  is a  way for me to track books for my reading challenges and they will be super short.

You don’t have to be a Kowalski to get your HEA. TAKEN WITH YOU is a fun romance where opposites attract.

Ok I cheated a bit on this TBR Jar read. I waited and waited for  TAKEN WITH YOU to be released on audiobook because I love Lauren Fortgang’s narration of the series. But after waiting for so long I bought the ebook for my Nook. Then I was contacted by Fortgang to review the audio. I jumped at listening!

Lauren brings Hailey and Matt’s story to life with her narration. Her pacing and tones are spot on for Shannon Stacey’s characters and stories. I highly recommend the Kowalski Family series on audio!

About Lauren Fortgang

Lauren Fortgang lives in New York City where she currently works as an actor and voiceover artist. She had early training at A.C.T.’s Young Conservatory and is a graduate of Fordham University: College at Lincoln Center, where she majored in theater. About Shannon Stacey

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Shannon Stacey lives with her husband and two sons in New England, where her two favorite activities are writing stories of happily ever after and riding her four-wheeler. From May to November, the Stacey family spends their weekends on their ATVs, making loads of muddy laundry to keep Shannon busy when she’s not at her computer. She prefers writing to laundry, however, and considers herself lucky she got to be an author when she grew up.

Quick summary Town recluse Max Crawford is ready to meet someone, fall in love and get married. When he goes to the town diner for lunch (suggested starting place to meet people), part-time waitress Tori Burns immediately bonds with him and decides to help him with his plan. Neither one of them saw it coming when they fell for each other. The issues Max initially thought Tori might be too young for him (she wasn’t). Tori has sworn off love and marriage after her parents’ ugly divorce and aftermath, thinking she’d probably end up being like her mother (wrong…no one could be that nasty). What works! Max is glorious in all his geekdom and honesty. Tori is a natural who immediately recognizes his assets and […]

Opposites attract…kinda   Quick summary Hailey Genest, the town librarian, is lamenting that all of her girlfriends are now married or in serious relationships. She agrees to shake things up by going on an adventure hike in the woods with new friend Tori Burns, which ends in disaster. They’re assisted by vacationing Game Warden Matt Barnett who looks like a mountain man serial killer. Though he cleans up nicely, there are huge differences between these two in spite of their chemistry.   Story dynamics Hailey’s a girlie-girl with a “neat as a pin” home designed in white and pastels. Matt’s got an outdoors, “roughing it” job, a dog named Bear and everything else that goes along with these images. She’s got expectations of her “ideal” […]

This is book 7 in a series so expect a few series spoilers below.  I’ve been waiting for Liz and Drew’s story since they hooked up at Mitch’s wedding in book 4, All He Ever Needed. Liz is the only girl in the Kowalski Family and she’s been living away from home for about 15 years. She moved across country from the family’s home, Northern Star Lodge in Maine to New Mexico with her loser of an “artist” boyfriend that none of her brothers liked. After Liz returned home for Mitch’s wedding she saw that her brothers and cousins were moving forward in their lives with weddings and babies and she got home sick. She already gave the boyfriend the boot but instead of staying […]

As always the writing and narration team of Shannon Stacey and Lauren Fortgang is a winner! I’m really enjoying the Kowalski family. This time around we get’s Ryan’s story. He’s been avoiding going into town when he’s home and his family thinks they know the reason… Lauren Carpenter. Lauren married Ryan’s best friend right out of high school after they found out she was pregnant which made things for Ryan hard since he was in love with her. So he left town to go to college and start his business. 15 years later the two are now divorced from other people and the attraction is still there but they are pretty much strangers now since they’ve not spoken in all this time. Lauren has it tough as […]

Shannon Stacey continues to do an excellent job with Kowalski Family! She continues to bring fun and smart characters within touching and sexy romances.  We first saw Mitch Kowalski in the last book, Yours to Keep and I couldn’t wait to see how the Kowalskis in Maine were going to stake up to the Kowalskis in Connecticut. I love a story where the guy is a man whore that finally falls in love. Mitch Kowalski is the man whore of his hometown, Whitford, Maine. Every since high school Mitch has sown his wild oats with the gals in town. He can’t walk into any public place where he doesn’t hear old stories about his wild times keep the ladies happy. “Honey, if you got an innie and not an outtie between […]

First Impression: I’ve found a new author and series to add to my auto buy list. Favorite Line/Quote: “Oh yes, Sean Kowalski. Your amazing kisses have made all rational thought fly out of my besotted brain. If only you could fill me with your magic penis, I know we’ll fall madly in love and live happily ever after.” The Narration: I love Lauren Fortgang’s narration of the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep so I wanted to check out some more of her work. I listened to books 1 & 2 in the Kowalski Family and loved the narration and writing so it was a no brainer for me to listen to this one too. What I liked: Everything really. Shannon Stacey knows how to write […]

Kevin Kowalski first meets Beth Hansen when she shows up at his bar one evening with her boss. He causes her to get fired when he has her boss arrested for drunk and disorderliness. When she happens to be working his brother’s wedding shortly after, they end up spending an unforgettable night together, one that will tie them together for years to come when she winds up pregnant. After this story, I can easily understand why everyone loves Kevin and know do, too. His reaction to Beth’s news was mature and responsible, better than hers. I really could understand her reluctance in jumping into a relationship with him until she could sort out his feelings; is he wanting her or the opportunity to have a […]
