I've battled the Reapers of Chaos before—and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it's going to be a fight to the death. . .most likely mine.

Yeah, I've got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic, and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side in Logan freaking Quinn, but I'm no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike's Champion, but at heart, I'm still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.

Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good . . . or I am. Praise for the international bestselling Mythos Academy series

You’ve wrote about superheroes (Bigtime series), Greek Mythology (Mythos Academy) and people  with elemental powers (Elemental Assassin). What other supernatural myths/legends are you drawn to? And would you ever want to write them into a world of your own making?

I’ve just always liked the idea of magic and people having these amazing powers, whether they are superheroes, gods/goddesses, elementals, etc. I really like fairy tales, so I think it would be cool to write a story with characters in a world that has more fairy tale-type magic. That’s one of the ideas that has been in the back of my mind for a while now.

I like a lot of different genres, like westerns, spy thrillers, heist books, etc., so I also think it would be cool to put a magical spin on some of those genres. We’ll see what my crazy imagination dreams up next. LOL.

Other than the Mythos Academy (of course) what are some YA series/books on your must read list that you could recommend?

One of my favorite books is Beauty by Robin McKinley, which is a lovely retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale.
Some other YA books that I’ve enjoyed are Poison by Bridget Zinn; Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry; and Also Known As by Robin Benway.

As far as YA series, I like the Heist Society series by Ally Carter and the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa, among many others.

I know you enjoy reading contemporary romances in your spare time. Have you ever thought about writing in that genre, either adult or YA?

I’ve been mulling over an idea for a contemporary new adult romance. Like you said, I enjoy reading contemporary romances, and I love watching rom-com movies. So I think it would be fun to write my own contemporary romance, whether it’s a new adult or something else. So that’s definitely something that’s on my to-do list for some time in the future.

Other than the next Elemental Assassin books (which I CANNOT wait for) what’s next for you? More Bigtime? New project? Or will you just be focusing on Gin? I know you can’t talk details but any bones you can throw us would be great. LOL.

Thanks! I appreciate that. Right now, I’m working on the 12th Elemental Assassin book, which is scheduled to be released in December 2014. I am hoping to write a least a few more books in my Elemental Assassin series after that one. We’ll see what happens.

I’m also mulling over some ideas for some new series. I’d also like to write and publish more in my Bigtime superhero series. So we’ll see where inspiration strikes, which direction that I decide to go, and what I have time to write.

As always it’s great having you at The Book Nympho and it’s a pleasure “cracking open” any book with your name on it.

Thanks for hosting me on your blog again! I appreciate it. Happy reading, everyone!

Gwen, Daphne, Logan and the rest of the Mythos gang take one last wild ride through the halls of Mythos Academy in the last installment, Killer Frost. Estep gives us an action packed conclusion with some darker times but with some of the same snark and humor we’ve grown to love from the students at Mythos, and of course there’s baked goodies from Grandma Frost’s kitchen. Everyone is on the final battle to take Loki down. Even band geek Carson. But before all Gwen’s friends can step in to help her, she tries her best to save everyone on her own….. Logan gave me a disgusted look. “So you just decided to go off by yourself? You’d think by now that you’d learn your lesson, but […]

Since this is the 5th book in a series there will be spoilers from other books ahead. If you are not up to date on the series you might want to come back later. So it’s road trip time for Gwen and the gang. They are on a mission to save a friend that has been poisoned. So they track off to another Mythos Academy location, Denver, CO. Midnight Frost starts out with Gwen mopping around about a blue-eyed Spartan that has gone MIA after the events of Crimson Frost. I had flashbacks to New Moon when Edward left Bella. NO this series is nothing like Twilight. But Gwen’s feelings of lost just reminded me of the months that Bella missed Edward. Gwen is miserable […]

If you can’t tell by the key word in the title, Crimson. This is the most act packed installment of the Mythos Academy. Many Reaper bodies hit the floor as Gwen and the others fight to stay alive when a group of Reapers break into the Library of Antiquities. But we get to the bloody parts we get to see Gwen and Logan on their first date but like all things Gwen, it doesn’t end well. Members of the Protectorate, a group of Mythos leaders, crash it to take Gwen into custody. And what makes is even more awkward….Logan’s dad, Linus is one of the Protectorate. And thanks to Logan’s douche of a dad the whole student body is out to get Gwen for something she didn’t even […]

First Thought: What the hell is everyone’s problem?! Series Deja Vu: Since starting this series I’ve compared it to a mix of Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (minus the vamps). There is definitely some HP like elements. The reapers remind me of the death eaters in Harry Potter. And I think Nickamedes and Gwen’s relationship is much like Snape and Harry’s. The Story: Dark Frost start off with a bang when some of the students are attacked by reapers at a museum during the Christmas break.  Gwen and the gang make it out ok but now they are left wondering why the reapers attacked. Like the bad guys in the movies…. they always come back for more if you don’t make sure they’re […]

First Thought: Gwen is really coming into her power. The Story: “Logan Quinn was trying to kill me.” Is the first sentence and the emotional theme of Kiss of Frost. Poor Gwen, she has to watch Logan suck face with Savannah. But then enters Preston, the blonde haired, blue eyed, very hot Viking from New York branch of Mythos. The students are excited for the yearly trip to a ski resort for the Winter Carnival, where Gwen meets the super cute Preston. But just when he looks like he could help Gwen forget about Logan, she learns that Preston has a secret. Gwen is still trying to find her place at Mythos Academy and dealing with the lost of her mother. She’s still just […]

Audio Review: Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep

First Thought A fun YA story that’s part Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Why I Listened I’m a HUGE fan of Estep’s Elemental Assassin series so I bought the print copy of Touch of Frost at RT back in May. But after signing up for the 7 day free trail at I thought I’d give the audio a try. Oy! The narration was not the best. I found Sands’ voice for Gwen to be a bit whiny, which is a shame since Estep’s EA series has an excellent narrator. But I was pressed for time to finish the book and stuck with the audio. But I will be reading the rest of the series. The Story Touch of Frost is about a teenage Gypsy […]
