When the battle is done . . .
The Emperor unleashes hell and annihilates an army, jeopardizing the future of mankind--but Circe strikes back. The epic clash between them devastates the Arcana world and nearly kills Evie, separating her from her allies.

And all hope is lost . . .
With Aric missing and no sign that Jack and Selena escaped Richter's reach, Evie turns more and more to the darkness lurking inside her. Two Arcana emerge as game changers: one who could be her salvation, the other her worst nightmare.

Vengeance becomes everything.
To take on Richter, Evie must reunite with Death and mend their broken bond. But as she learns more about her role in the future--and her chilling past--will she become a monster like the Emperor? Or can Evie and her allies rise up from Richter's ashes, stronger than ever before?

The team of Cole and Galvin continues to deliver mind-blowing stories to my earbuds!

The Arcana Chronicles is a unique series and I’m always excited to get my hands on a new installment. I get so wrapped up in the story and the characters that everything else just falls away. Total immersion happens when I listen to Emma Galvin deliver an award winning performance.

Arcana Rising brings us one book closer to the series wrapping up (sobs), it also answered some questions from previous books but left enough unanswered that we will have a plate full of goodness when Cole comes back with The Dark Calling in Spring of 2107. And yes it ends with a cliffhanger but if you’re a fan of this series you shouldn’t be surprised. Each book ends with one. So if you’ve not started the series I recommend you holding on until closer to the release of the last book and then binge read/listen to it if you don’t like to wait between books.

The Wait for the LAST book, The Dark Calling will be long.

Speaking of cliffhangers, the one that Cole left us with from Dead of Winter will get addressed. That’s it. I’m saying nothing else so that I don’t spoil anyone. Some will be happy, some might not be. (#TeamDeath here!) The world that Cole has built is so complex, with engaging characters and magnificent world building.

****SPOILER**** ONLY READ IF YOU HAVE READ THE BOOK!!!******SPOILER****

The Minor Arcana is talked about more Arcana Rising and I think they will play a big part in the next book. Also, we learn that one of the Major Arcana is not what they appear to be and that has to be a big part of the next book. So many options for the finale. I have so many theories (one I shared in the spoiler above).

Day Zero by Kresley Cole

Day Zero by Kresley Cole

I love the letter at the front of Day Zero from Cole that involves a SPOILER WARNING. She says she cannot deny nor confirm something that fans of the series have been speculating about one of the characters. I won’t say what that is so that I don’t spoil anyone reading this review that has not started the series yet. I just wanted to let you know what Day Zero should not be read as a prequel! I had no idea that Day Zero was a companion guide to the Arcana Chronicles. I thought it was just a novella giving us the story from other characters’ POVs. But it’s both actually. We get info about the major arcana and snippets from some their […]

A Hard Choice! Dead of Winter by Kresley Cole

A Hard Choice! Dead of Winter by Kresley Cole

DEAD OF WINTER was on the top of my most anticipated listens for 2015 and the team of Cole and Galvin delivered! But I had to take away one star from my normal 5 stars for this series because of the love triangle. Not that it was bad! Yes this is an element in the series that needed to be addressed but maybe not for about 70% of the book. But have no fear Kresley Cole wrote it well. Sure there was some angst but it was not whiny. In most love triangles I’ve read there is a clear front-runner (at least for me). Cole has made it hard for Evie (and me) to pick which guy she should be with. Just when I think I’ve picked […]

Audio Review: Endless Knight by Kresley Cole

First Impression: Cole is a master at delivering a dark and interesting dystopian world and I can’t get enough of it. Favorite Line/Quote(s): “Cannibals need love too.” “Death wants to gank me. Must be Tuesday.” The Narration: Emma Galvin has the prefect voice for this series. She has a young and smokey voice that allows her to pull of both the female and male characters. What I liked: I’m not a huge YA reader and one of the things I love about Endless Knight is that it doesn’t feel like YA.  Cole weaves a very compelling story of romance, action and mythology around the arcana to satisfy even non YA readers. Even though this world Cole has build is very dark she lightens it with great secondary […]

Audio Review: Poison Princess by Kresley Cole

Posted February 20, 2013 by Jennifer in Book Review | 2 Comments

I not a huge fan of Young Adult books but I do enjoy one every once in a while and since I enjoy Cole’s adult series (Immortals After Dark) I wanted to give Poison Princess a try. HOLY FREAKING COW am I glad I did. It totally blows away her adult series. Cole knows how to write a post apocalyptic book and the YA elements didn’t really take away from the awesomeness of the world. Sure it starts out with kids in high school but once the Flash takes place the game changes. WTF is the Flash? It’s the event that changes the world. Driving the servers to live in a desert land with little food researches. Poison Princess starts out like many YA books […]
