At long last... The final book in the New York Times bestselling Hollows series by Kim Harrison!

Rachel Morgan's come a long way from the clutzy runner of Dead Witch Walking. She's faced vampires and werewolves, banshees, witches, and soul-eating demons. She's crossed worlds, channeled gods, and accepted her place as a day-walking demon. She's lost friends and lovers and family, and an old enemy has become something much more.

But power demands responsibility, and world-changers must always pay a price. That time is now.

To save Ivy's soul and the rest of the living vampires, to keep the demonic ever after and our own world from destruction, Rachel Morgan will risk everything.

The Witch with No Name may not have been the best book in the series (it was close) but it left me satisfied. What a great ending to a fantastic urban fantasy series. The last chapter almost earned it 5 stars for me. But I dropped it to 4.5 stars because I thought that The Undead Pool and Pale Demon where just a touch better.

Rachel wouldn’t be Rachel if she didn’t try to mess up something good in her life. I was getting a little tired of her second guessing her being with Trent. I kept thinking “Don’t you fuck this up Rachel!” Trent really was the right guy for Rachel. He would call her on her bull shit every time.

I thought that with The Undead Pool that we would get the answers to the undead and their souls. But no, it carried over to The Witch with No Name and it gets wrapped up.  So does the storyline of the Demons and the Ever After. I love how Kim Harrison weaved the two species issues together and how they were solved.

I was worried about Al after The Undead Pool but he was back this time and he and Rachel made up. I love Al! And I got teary eyed a few times on his behalf. Seriously I’m a little misty eyed now just thinking about him.

With The Witch with No Name being the last book we got to see some characters from earlier books show up and I was so glad that Nick was not one of them! Rachel’s mom shows up along with a few other characters to help round out a nice cast to bring the series to an end.

Now that the ride is over I’m going to miss Al and Jenks the most.  I’ll never look at Tinkerbell the same after hearing all of Jenks’ curses involving her. Here are some of my favorites.

  • Tink’s titties.
  • Tink’s a Disney whore.
  • Tink loves a duck.
  • Tink’s little pink dildo

There is no doubt in my mind I will revisit this series on audio. I’ve really enjoyed Marguerite Gavin bring this fantastic world and characters by Kim Harrison to life.

THIS POST HAS SPOILERS!   If you are not up to date on The Hollow series then read this review at your own risk. (But really who reads a review on the 12th book in a series they’ve not read?! It’s your own fault if you get spoiled on the series.) And there will be spoilers for The Undead Pool. This is less of a review and more of my gushing about the book and what happens in it.  YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! If you can’t guess by the title, THE UNDEAD POOL  installment deals with the vampires of Cincinnati. The vampires are my least favorite species in The Hollows series. I’ve just never warmed up to them as a whole and Ivy just gets on my […]

Playing with Demons in Ever After by Kim Harrison

Playing with Demons in Ever After by Kim Harrison

EVER AFTER is currently my favorite book in The Hollows series. We get a lot of Trent and Al and very little Ivy which was the best part for me. LOL With EVER AFTER Rachel has to deal with some issues that happened in PALE DEMON and A PERFECT BLOOD. As far as Pale Demon, Rachel has to work her magic to save the ever after because of the ley line she made while she was over there. And try to find a way to take down Ku’Sox (or as Jenks calls him, Cut Socks). So you have plenty of demon hijinks going on, which is always fun. Then you have to moment that Trent and Rachel shared in A PERFECT BLOOD and Rachel […]

If you’ve not read Pale Demon you may not want to read this review since I talk a little about some of the events at the end of the book.  So I checked the audio book out from the library but after Jessica from Rabid Reads left a comment on my review for Pale Demon about  a bonus chapter from Trent’s POV so I grabbed the ebook so I could read it. And oh boy it was the best part of the book!! He froze as the scent of her hair met him. It was touching his cheek, tickling him.I can’t afford this, he thought, but he didn’t move, watching her finger trace the new line.  That’s just a bit of Trent’s thoughts on Rachel. I […]

Quote that perfectly sums up the book: “The car was full of unhappy people heading west. It was the Great American Family Road Trip, all right. Whaaa-hoo!” What the What?! (Spoiler) Demons are people too… I like seeing another side to the demons. I’ve really grown to like Al. And honestly I see him more of a love interest than any of the guys currently in Rachel’s life. I know something happens in the future with Rachel and Trent thanks to all the snippets I’ve seen around the book world. But he needs to  grow a pair in order for me to like him. He lets women fight for his life. He needs to get a little more alpha or he has no hope to hold on […]

Since this is the 8th book in the series this will be a fast break down review so I can start listening to Pale Demon ASAP. First Impression: Much better than the last book, White Witch, Black Curse. And is my favorite book to date. Favorite Line/Quote: “Could you be of the mind to let me go?” “Sorry.” I said dropping my hands from his shoulders. “No. I meant a little lower.” I flushed red. “I’m working on that,” I said embarrassed. But it was kind of nice doing the nasty with a witch. Where I didn’t have to explain myself. Biology was grand. Male witches were not as well endowed as humans. and to make up for it we girls had a couple of […]

Just in case you have not noticed this is the 7th book in the series. So there WILL BE series SPOILER below. First Impression: If it wasn’t for the last quarter of the book it would have gotten a C- rating. Favorite Line/Quote: “But he’s Rachel Candy!” “Five trolls in a dra-a-a-a-ag,’ the four-inch man sang from my shoulder. ‘Four purple condoms, three French ticklers, two horny vamps and a succubus in the snow.”  “…Everyone had to eat, but eating people wasn’t polite.”   The Narration: I’m so glad that Marguerite Gavin is back as the narrator!!! She is Rachel Morgan. NO ONE can replace her. What I liked: (SPOILER ahead) That last part of the book really brought it around for me. After reading For a Few More […]

Audio Review: The Outlaw Demon Wails by Kim Harrison

Where oh where was Marguerite Gavin?! I missed her narration for The Outlaw Demon Wails. Gigi Bermingham is no Marguerite Gavin.  Gigi got on my nerves, her pronouncing of Piscary’s name was wrong and distracting. She pronounced it like PISScary where Gavin pronounces as PAscary.  And her pronunciation of ley line as LEE line instead of LAY line bugged the crap out of me. She didn’t do Jenks’ voice any justice and she didn’t change her voice enough for each character. I’m glad she only narrates one of the books in the series, if I had heard her narration before Marguerite’s I would have not continued the series on audio. I didn’t enjoy her narration of this book and I can’t see me enjoying her narration job […]
