Despite surviving silver poisoning, Vivian isn’t out of the fire yet. Rolando is still alive, as is his desire to eliminate all manipulator vampires like her. The streets of Buenos Aires prove to be a tricky hunting ground for Vivian and her husband Rafe, especially when a paranormal serial killer starts leaving bodies behind.

Overwhelmed amidst the city’s chaos, they seek help from Jon, Vivian's werewolf servant and the couple’s right-hand man. As the deaths continue, a local alpha under scrutiny for the crimes threatens to blame Jon and reveal his master’s daytime location—if they don’t find the real culprit.

It’s a race for the trio to stop the killings, uncover the truth, and catch the vampire responsible for Vivian’s torture—before the supernatural locals pick up their proverbial pitchforks and stop them all, for good.

Warning: This book contains adult content (violence, blood, and sex) and is intended for readers over 18.

C.J. Ellisson writing it quite unique in that the books in her V.V. Inn series is told from first person and usually by 2-3 characters. She rotates characters’ POV through chapters, with each chapter being told from a different character. In Blood Legacy we get Dria/Vivian, Rafe and Jon’s POVs. I’ve come to enjoy this kind of story telling because we get the main characters’ thoughts and a bigger picture of what’s going on.

In Blood Legacy Dria/Vivian is still dealing with the events that happened in Big Game. She’s has healed from the silver poisoning from her kidnapping at the hands of Caroline the evil vampire that was part of the Tribunal.

Most of the V.V. Inn series takes place in Alaska but this time around the gang is in Buenos Aires hunting down the vampire that got away, Rolando. While Dria/Vivian, Rafe and Jon hunted down Rolando they are also roped into helping the local werewolf pack’s alpha to clear her name of animal-like attacks that’s been happening around Buenos Aires.

Jon is “ordered” by Dria/Vivian to get close the female alpha in order to learn a new werewolf skill that could be very helpful to Jon and his slowly growing pack back home in Alaska. But since Jon finally has a girlfriend (that he hides from Dria/Vivian) he doesn’t want to seduce the female alpha.

Blood Legacy is full of vampire and werewolf drama with some sexiness added to the mystery and mayhem.

I’ve read the other three books in The V V Inn series by Ellisson and have enjoyed them. So I was excited to see that we get a prequel story about Jon and how he meet Dria and Rafe. Jon was attacked in college by a werewolf, his introduction into the supernatural world. He joined a pack in Canada that helped him with the change and what it means to be a werewolf. But he quickly became an alpha so instead of challenging is pack leader, Romeo he decides to leave. And finding his girlfriend in bed with another pack member, Jon leaves alone and soon finds himself close to his home town in Virginia. But he can’t go home since his family and friends […]

Review: Big Game by C.J. Ellisson

The title Big Game made me think we were going to get mostly the story about Jon, Vivan’s sexy werewolf, vampire servant but I was wrong. Big Game really does sum up the book. There are so many games going on in this plot from the werewolves that come to the inn to hunt, to the games that the Tribunal vampires play at the Seat of Darkness. C.J. Ellisson sticks with her multi POV for Big Game that she used in the other books in the series. It sounds like it would be a hard read to follow but I actually like it. It’s like watching a soap opera. You get to read a scene from one POV and then you which to another scene […]

Review: The Hunt by C.J. Ellisson

T he Hunt is very different from the first book, Vampire Vacation. It has the same characters but instead of being mostly in Vivan’s head, we get into everyone’s head. Each chapter is from someone else’s POV. It bounces between the members in Vivan’s new seethe; Rafe, Jon, Drew, Asa, Paul and of course Vivan. It sounds confusing but it’s really not. I actually loved the way we got to see this story from all different angles. And it allowed us to get a better feel for all the other characters. But with the way it was written you really had to finish up a chapter before you could put the book down or you could forget whose head you were in. The Hunt has […]

Review: Vampire Vacation by C.J. Ellisson

I first saw Vampire Vacation on another blog that was reviewing it and it sounds fun and a fun cover. Then I saw it again as free Nook read from Barnes and Noble and decided to get it. After seeing and getting a notice from Bewitching Book Tours that they were hosting a tour for the author I decided to sign up and finally read it. I was glad I did. The concept of a Vampire Inn where vampires can get away and vacation in Alaska is something new. VV has some much going on, there is a touch of erotica with some pretty hot sex scenes between Viv and Rafe. As well as some teasing scenes with some of the other characters. Then you […]
