Charlotte Cahill intends to take down an infamous diamond smuggler on the FBI’s Most Wanted list—and she intends to do it by the book. That won’t be easy with the cocky new temporary deputy on her task force. Mason Decker feels like trouble, especially when his cool gaze wanders across her hot body . . .

After his time as a Customs officer, Decker has enough experience hanging out with criminals to know that working undercover means following your instincts, not the rules. It doesn’t take long for him to lock horns with Cahill. But when the sexy assistant U.S. attorney is accidentally dragged out of her orderly world and into the turn-on-a-dime tension of Decker’s deceptive games, she’ll find that nothing is as seductive as playing a new role . . .

Mandy Baxter’s U.S. Marshals series is one that continues to keep me up past my bedtime!

While reading Locked and Loaded I found myself thinking about Charlie and Mason while I was away from my e-reader. Seriously, when I was at work I wondered what they were up to on my Kindle. At school and couldn’t focus on the professors because again I wondered what these fictional characters were going to do next. That is a sign of a great book!

So what made me obsess over Locked and Loaded?

  • Charlie and Mason’s chemistry was on point! Not just their sexual tense but their banter was great.
  • Just enough of danger to make me wonder if they would both come out of it unharmed.
  • Watching a law enforcement alpha guy and goodie-two-shoes lawyer woman play ‘bad’ guys as they work as con artists to solve a case.
  • A great secondary character that’s on the wrong side of the law.

What’s not fun about a cop and lawyer going undercover as diamond smugglers to catch the bad guys?

Throw in the fact that the lawyer, Charlie wasn’t supposed to be a part of the undercover part and it adds to tense between her and Mason as they find a way to work together without choke the other person. Then of course over the week they spend together working on their angle for the case that tension turns into the sexual kind. As the temperature rises between the two so does the danger. Mason has a connection to some bad people through is family. That’s where Mason’s “brother” Keane comes in.

Keane is a great secondary character and I found myself invest in him as much as Charlie and Mason. I’m hoping that he will get his own book. I think with the love the right woman, Keane could be tempted to leave the life of crime.

Mandy Baxter fully entertains with her voice and character in Locked and Loaded. If you haven’t tried this series yet, feel free to jump into Locked and Loaded as it can easily be read as a stand alone.

At Any Cost by Mandy Baxter

At Any Cost is easily my favorite book in Mandy Baxter’s U.S. Marshals series. At least for now, because every time I open up another book in the series it tops the last one as my favorite. If you love romance with a touch of suspense you need to check out this series. At Any Cost focuses on a new couple, U.S. Marshal Nick Brady and Livy. Nick is forced to take a month-long ‘vacation’ to get his head on straight and learn to work as a team member instead of trying to solve all the cases himself. But Nick can’t let go off one case that the Marshal’s dept has been trying to close in the last four years. Biker, Meecum is on the Marshal’s top […]

Read It, Track It Is A Way For Me To Track Books For My Reading Challenges And The Reviews Will Be Super Short. Damien Evans has been working undercover so long that he’s lost a part of himself until he meets Tabitha Martin. Together Damien and Tabitha burn up the pages of One Touch More. They are different sides of the law, Damien, because he’s the bad boy of the US Marshall Services and Tabitha because she’s forced to help her ex-boyfriend who’s a dealer in order to save her younger brother. One Touch More is another hot romance by Mandy Baxter. If you enjoy seeing a strong heroine bring the alpha guy to his knees and feel emotions he has buried then you […]
