For three years, ballet teacher Natalie Taggart has lived across the hall from grumpy, reclusive, sexy Greer Wilde. Save for a handful of hellos and the occasional heated glance, they never spoke to each other.

Until the morning Greer lands on her doorstep, bleeding, beaten, and bullet-riddled.

Greer doesn’t need or want her help. He has only one goal: revenge. And nobody—not his brothers, and certainly not his too-hot-for-his-sanity next-door neighbor—is going to get in his way.

Greer Wilde had to step up and raise his four brothers following the murder of his parents when he was 15-years old. He miraculously kept them together and started Wilde Security in an effort to continue providing a steady stream of income and maintain their connection. Now he’s in trouble. Greer’s been off the grid for over four months and he’s in bad shape emotionally and physically but is determined to find and kill his parents’ murderer. However, if his neighbor Natalie Taggart has anything to say about, that’s not going to happen.

This is the final book in the series and Greer is the toughest and most secretive of all the brothers. Unraveling his story was heartbreaking and there was much to admire about this character. I liked Natalie, though she was often too good to be true. However, she was perfect for the extremely flawed and grumpy Greer, showing up as his angel of salvation and he deserved her. I was surprised at the resolution of the parents’ murder, a nice little twist that satisfied my suspense itch.

Everything’s answered in the lovely epilogue, a fitting end to a series I’ve enjoyed. While I’m sad to see it come to an end as I’ve liked the Wilde brothers and the women in their lives, it’s good to know they’ll continue to show up in the HORNET series.

About Tonya Burrows

Writing has always been my one true love. I knew since I was 6 years old that I wanted to be an author, but didn’t finish my first novel until 8th grade. It was an epic sci-fi/fantasy/mystery/romance mash-up and writing The End was one of the proudest moments of my young life.

I haven’t put down my pen since.

In college, after several false starts in more practical fields of study, I followed my heart and receive a B.A. in creative writing from SUNY Oswego. Now I’m working on a M.F.A. in popular fiction at Seton Hill University.

I spend most of my time writing, tinkering with my website, or reading. I love TV and movies and probably–okay, definitely–watch too much of both. Give me a good horror movie over a chick flick any day. (And, let’s be honest, I’ll take a bad horror movie too!) And if superheroes are involved, I’m so all over that. I’m a proud geek at heart and pledge my avid TV fandom to Supernatural and Doctor Who. I’m also a big fan of The Voice. What can I say? Guilty pleasure.

I share my life with my fur-babies: two dogs, Ella and Otto, and a ginormous cat named Nabisco. (Yes, like the cookie company. What? I told you I like my sweets, didn’t I? No? Well, now you know. Hi, I’m Tonya and I’m a junk food junkie.)

I’m from a small town in Western New York, but I love to travel. Some might even say I suffer from a bad case of wanderlust. I say I don’t suffer at all–I enjoy every second and I have a habit of moving someplace new every few years just to shake things up. Luckily, my animals are all excellent travel buddies.

We finally get to discover who Lark Warren really is and put the broody Vaughn Wilde out of his misery…maybe. They hooked up at his twin brother Cam’s wedding, spent a couple of intense weeks together and then she disappeared. When he looked into her background, Vaughn discovered she’d used several aliases before the current one but never found the first and real. A chance discovery in New Orleans puts them on a road trip together as he brings her back (unwillingly) to Washington, DC.   The fast pace of the story starts right away and never lets up! Lark, or Sage as she’s now called, doesn’t reveal herself easily and her layers are peeled back slowly over the course of the book. […]

Reece Wilde is the serious, practical one of the brothers so when he is inexplicably drawn to the unconventional, offbeat Shelby Bremer, even he questions his sanity. She’s also got a terrible reputation for secrecy and lying, one she admits to having earned.   It took me a while but somewhere during the story these two connected with me emotionally. There’s a lot going on and finding the convergences weren’t easy, especially with Shelby’s duplicity. But, I just couldn’t help liking her, with her tattoos, turquoise and purple hair and zest for life. I also liked that Reece loved the true Shelby and appreciated her uniqueness. Sister Eva comes off poorly here, taking off quite a bit of her shine.   I liked […]

Camden Wilde has loved his former partner, Homicide Detective Eva Cardoso, for five years but has been content to be her “best friend.” Now that he’s working with his brothers as an investigator, it might be time to make his move. But, she’s got idealized visions of marriage and he’s lived it and lost.   I really, really liked Cam…everything about him except for his reluctance to tell Eva the truth. While he had good reason to be fearful, he’s a tough guy and could handle it. I liked Eva, too, but her indecision about him and her former beau drove me nuts. When they were together, they WORKED! When they didn’t, it was awful.   I liked the whiff of suspense in the […]
