May have spoilers if you have not read books 1-3. Ok. This one is a re-read for me. Well, I cheated a little and checked out the audio book from the library and listened to it at work since I have so many other books to read at the moment. Anyway – I wanted to revisit this book to refresh my memory on the little details before the new season of True Blood starts on June 26th. The 4th season is based on the 4th book, Dead to the World. I read Dead to the World for the 1st time in 2009 and I loved it. The biggest thing that stuck with me from this book was the shower scene (if you have read it […]

Bitten to Death is the fourth book in the Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin. This one like the 3rd book was a little slow in my opinion. There was not enough action and I kept waiting for something to happen between Jaz and Vayl. I understand this is an Urban Fantasy series and the romance part is not usually “in-your-face” like in paranormal romance but come on, four books and still no hanky-panicky?! I’m sure I am feeling just a frustrated as Vayl. In Bitten to Death, Jaz, Vayl and David are invited to Vayl’s old Vampere Trust by the leader, Hamon, in hopes of finally catching Edward Samos, aka The Raptor. For those of you that have not read this series yet, Samos is the […]

Guest Review: I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett

The fourth installment of the Tiffany Aching series gives a better idea of what it means for Tiffany to be THE witch of the Chalk.  The previous three books gave us more details of what witches in Terry Pratchett’s  Discworld universe have to DO, but this one shows us how important the roles are that the witches play in their stead for their people. Tiffany has accomplished quite a lot from her first experiences as a witch as an adolescent to now, as a young woman.  She has demonstrated an ability to both wield magic and be the person in charge of her area skillfully, and in doing some of the more remarkable things, has awoken a monster that has spelt doom for many witches […]

In one word…. BLAH. I hate to be negative since I really have enjoyed most of this series but the last two books has been SLOW and a disappointment to me. Dead Reckoning has now replaced Dead in the Family as my least favorite book in the series. It wasn’t all bad; we did get some background info onSookie’sfae blood and her Gran. And there was some intense moments betweenSookie and Eric and then between Eric and Pam but over all it didn’t really have any action until about the last 50 or so pages. On a bright note we got a bit of “Bubba” and for you Bill fans there was a few scenes between him andSookie.Dead in the Family felt like a bridge book so I was […]

I’m on the fence about this series. I like it but do not love it. I keep reading to see what happens but I found myself skimming this installment just to get to the end of it. So far this series is written with more internal monologue (in Jaz’s head) than actual dialogue and it gets a little much. I want more interaction between the characters. Don’t get me wrong the characters are great but I’m ready for something to happen romantically between Jaz and Vayl or Jaz and Cole. The whole will they, won’t they is driving me nuts. I enjoyed the Once Bitten, Twice Shy (1st) & Another One Bites the Dust (2nd) more than this one but I will continue the series to […]

Jaz is a tough heroine with a smart mouth. Got to love those kick-ass chicks with attitude. She is a totally believable character with her family problems with her stubborn dad, little sister, and twin brother. And since this book is about a tough heroine that works for the C.I.A. that is partnered with a Vamp you know there will be action in the book. There was a good mix of humor with action and I liked the side characters and hope they continue to show up in future books. The relationship that Jaz and Vayl have starts out as a great working partnership and then by the end of the book it turns into something more. But there is not much romance in this […]

Think X-rated X-men, the characters are human but with special abilities. There is an over all developing plot throughout the series and each book has a main couple with a few side couples mixed in. In this book we get to see Trance, an ex-army MP that has had tons of Special Forces training go undercover to find Ulrika (Rik), a wolf shapeshifter They meet in a BDSM club in London and since they are both Doms it’s hard for them to submit to each other. But over the time they open themselves to each other like they have never done before. There are some really hot BDSM scenes between the two. I’m not really up on the BDSM scene so I found myself Googling a […]
