Audio Review: My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland

The cover art and title sucked me in but Angel keep me listening. The moment she said “But then again, I was about as far from touchy-feely as you could get. Unless you’re fucking me, don’t put your hands on me.” I knew we were soul mates. Angel is a great character, she is full of snark and dieing really was the best thing that happened to her. My Life as a White Trash Zombie is my 1st book to read where the main character is a zombie. And like many creatures, each author puts their own spin on them. Rowland’s version of zombies is a like a cross between a vampire and the movie Death Becomes Her, where Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn keep […]

Audio Review: Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep

Audio Review: Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep

Wow. Any book that starts with the heroine stabbing someone in the balls is a book for me! Spider’s Bite starts with a thrill ride that you find yourself riding throughout the whole book. Like all great roll coasters, there are not just ups and downs but there are a few loopy-de-loops and twists and turns just like the plot of this excellent Urban Fantasy tale that Estep was crafted. If you are a fan of the Urban Fantasy genre then you know that they can be dark and gritty, some more than others. Spider’s Bite is very dark with a high body count but it also has a little something for the smexy fans as well. Estep has done an awesome job in […]

Audio Review: The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper

Audio Review: The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper

As always Molly Harper has brought the snark and sassy in The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires. This is the second book in the Half Moon Hollow series, which is a spin-off from Harper’s Jane Jameson series. TCFSV almost read like the 1st book in the spin-off series instead of the second. There was more mention of Jane in this one than Driving Mr. Dead. And Iris was thinking of adding a transport service to her vampire concierge business. But Driving Mr. Dead was the start of the transport service so I wonder if Harper wrote TCFSV before or at the same time she wrote DMD. It was a little confusing but not enough to mess with my head. In any account you can […]

Tempest Rising is the first book in the Jane True Series by Nicole Peeler. It’s a fun and light read. Almost every fae creature you can think of is covered in this book. And Jane finds out that she not only belongs to the human world (although she doesn’t find like she fits) she is also part of the fae world on her mother’s side. Jane has a past that even if she could forget, her home town will not let her. After she gets sucked into a world she never knew about, she meets the sexy Ryu. Ryu is in town to investigate a murder and he just happens to be fae. In fact Jane learns that he is a vampire but […]

Audio Review: As Lie the Dead by Kelly Meding

Audio Review: As Lie the Dead by Kelly Meding

Evy is the best kick ass heroine I’ve meet since meeting Kate Daniels! Maybe even more so since Kate carries a big sword and Evy finds herself without a weapon in most fights and add the fact that she is still trying to figure out how to move in a body that’s was not her own; one that is not trained to fight. Yet she still manages to stay on top. Evy is a shit talker but she backs it up. But she has a really hard time kick butt in As Lie the Dead since she blacks out like every another chapter; waking up in strange places. But during these blackouts we get to see more of Evy’s past in her memories in […]

I loved this series!! Wicked Deeds starts with us seeing some of the later scenes in No Rest of the Wicked during the end of the Hide but through Bowe’s eyes. We see why the little witch cursed him and how they spent their time at the end of the game. Both Bowe and Mariketa spent weeks locked up in separate caves vowing to kill the other for what they had done to each other. But once Bowe gets free and learns that Mari is still trapped and in danger all he can think about it getting to her to save her. During a long trip in the jungle to get Mariketa to home and safety, the two get to know each other and have […]

Audio Review: Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas

Sugar Daddy is my first Lisa Kleypas read. I’ve seen so many bloggers that love her and I’ve wanted to branch out some into contemporary romance to have a bit of a break from my usual paranormal romance reads. I’m glad I gave a new to me genre a listen, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Sugar Daddy. It was a bit slow in the being but it picked up speed after a few chapters. I didn’t know what to expect from Sugar Daddy, so I didn’t realize that we would be following the main heroine, Liberty Jones through her teen years up to her early twenties. But I enjoyed seeing her grow and it made me remember feelings I had during […]

I’ve had the Dreg City Series on my TBR list for a while now and since I’ve been on an Urban Fantasy kick I decided to finally start it. I totally love the world that Meding has built. Even though it’s paranormal and I’ve read many books with some of the same kind of creatures, I was not bored. Meding introduced different creatures in her world that I’ve heard of but not read and the why she described them were fantastic. You get vampires but you also get spirits, trolls, gargoyles and gremlins that talk like Yoda. Not to mention the fact that Evangeline (Evie) is brought back to life in a different body. That is totally new to me. Evie is still her, just […]
