I am really enjoying this series; each book is funnier than the last. And Amanda Ronconi is the prefect person to bring this world and characters to life on audio. There is just enough mystery to the plots to keep you reading/listening to see who the bad guy is in each book. After reading a lot of darker books lately it’s nice to take a step back and enjoy the lightness of Harper’s world she has created in the Nice Girls series.Nice Girls Don’t Live Forever picks up not long after Nice Girls Don’t Date Dead Men ended. Jolene and Zeb are married and expecting a baby. Jane and Gabriel are still having some relationship issues. And we get a good healthy dose of my […]

I’ve read a lot of vampire books, some dark, some smut filled and it’s nice to read and it’s nice to take a break from some of the darker Urban Fantasy ones to enjoy a light funny read. With vampires are named Dick Cheney (not the ex-vice prez) how can it not make you laugh.  In this installment of the series the gang deals with Zeb and Jolene’s wedding. Let me just say if I had a family that was as nosey as Jane, Zeb and Jolene’s I would have moved or gone to jail for killing a few of them. It actually got to the point to where it got a little annoying. I kept thing that all three of them needed to grow […]

I’ve had this series on my TBR list for a while and after reading How to Flirt With a Naked Werewolf by Harper I knew that I had to move this series up my reading list. Then my lovely husband got me a 12 months membership to Audible.com for my birthday, so Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs was my 1st “purchase”. I love the sarcastic humor that Harper uses in her books. Nice Girls is a fun light-hearted read with mystery and romance set in the South were vamps are out to the public. Jane is turned in order to save her life but she does an excellent job of adapting to her new life. Plus it doesn’t hurt that her sire is the yummy Gabriel. Nice Girls […]

I am so done with this series. You would think after 10 books Betsy’s character would have grown. WRONG. She is still the same dumb, shallow blonde stereo type; which was fun for the first few books but it’s gotten old and on my nerves. Undead and Undermined picks up where Undead and Unfinished left off. Betsy is trying to come to grip with the new time she returned to; after timing traveling with her sister Laura. Against advance, Betsy changed a few times in the past before coming back to the present and now she can see the error of her ways but as usual it’s too late. Betsy is not the typical heroine. Most of the time she is the reason the day […]

I really enjoyed listening to Incarceron and after its cliffhanger ending, I knew my next audio book would be Sapphique. Sapphique picks up a few months after Incarceron ends. We get to see what happens to Finn after he escapes Incarceron; but is the grass really greener on the other side? I believe that is the main theme throughout series. While Incarceron is told through Finn and Claudia’s point of view, Sapphique is told through multiple points of views. Which makes sense since half of the characters are on the inside of and the other half on the outside of Incareron. Sapphique and Incarceron are not light reads and I would recommend that you read them and not do the audio book if you […]

I love The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and I’ve been on the hunt for another Dystopian book. So I put Incareron on my TBR list. Then last week I ran across it on CD in the library and check it out. I was half through listening to Incarceron and I felt like I had missed some important information and was lost on some of the plot so I started over and there was still a few times I was a little confused about some of the characters. I don’t know if it was because I was listening to it while I was working and just tuning out from time to time or if it was how the book was written. Things that really bugged […]

May have spoilers if you have not read books 1-3. Ok. This one is a re-read for me. Well, I cheated a little and checked out the audio book from the library and listened to it at work since I have so many other books to read at the moment. Anyway – I wanted to revisit this book to refresh my memory on the little details before the new season of True Blood starts on June 26th. The 4th season is based on the 4th book, Dead to the World. I read Dead to the World for the 1st time in 2009 and I loved it. The biggest thing that stuck with me from this book was the shower scene (if you have read it […]

Overall this series is something of a post-apocalyptic universe where technology and magic struggle for control over the world. The plots are complex, exhilarating and even though this is urban fantasy there is still a healthy dose of romance. This book has the most romance so far, but this is not your standard romance where you know that all will be well in the end. Kate is such a great heroine. She is strong-minded and tough, smart ass chick that is totally likeable. And in this 4th installment of the series, we do not just see the tough sword swinging Kate but we also get to see her softer side. If you are up to date on the series then you will remember the […]
